The trailer for the upcoming film, Brothers, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman looks really good. Tobey plays a family man and marine named Sam who is pronounced dead while his wife (played by Portman) grieves at home with their two young daughters. Sam’s brother, Tommy (Gyllenhaal), the dark horse of the family steps up to care for his sister-in-law and nieces, which leads to events with severe consequences. It’s out in the U.S. on December 4th.
HARRY POTTER FEVER has now hit the Kung household. Or just my room. I am excited. In preparation, I have rewatched the fifth movie and am in the process of rereading the sixth book. It’s exciting. I will, for the first time, be catching a midnight screening of the film with Joyce and Alison. This is the only book series in which I follow the movies religiously as well. The buzz for the sixth movie is really growing and I hear it’s the best one yet! The 7th book will be made into two moves: Part 1 and Part 2 (titles tentative). I really like Emma Watson who plays Hermione. Here she is in her interview with David Letterman (sleaze) on July 8th. She’s very funny, very sassy. Too bad she had to go all ivy league (poor Wes).

I’m finally delving into the world of American presidents. I just bought “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” which, based on the reviews, is supposed to be amazing!
I’m also rereading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I just bought tickets to a midnight screening.
The world has recently been consumed with Michael Jackson. CNN ran his memorial for 24 hours yesterday. I don’t know if it’s insensitive but I think that the media really needs to let go now. Let him go – in peace! He was an amazing artist with his fair share of controversy but does that really require a day’s worth of news coverage when other things that actually impact people are still going on in the world? Anyway, who am I to say, right?
Rest in peace, MJ. That’s all I got. He’s with God.
I have a very interesting and useless piece of media to share. If any of you remember a few years ago, almost 1500 Filipino inmates did an amazing rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (coincidence?!). Well, they just came out with a rendition of Super Junior’s “Sorry, Sorry”! It was so exciting!

My friend, Mira recently completed an amazing documentary with a group of brilliant classmates at Brooklyn College. They even created a very organized website complete with essay-length biographies on what it means to be a New Yorker. The course specializes in topics surrounding New York such as AIDS, Times Square, Vietnam Veterans etc. Please check out the website!

This is it. I’m at the home stretch of my freshman year. I took my first final this morning. It was just okay. Not excellent. Now, one more major final to study for and a research paper to go. MACHAAAAAA!
